Regina Margherita promenade

Overview

A walk to discover the charm of Brindisi

It is the heart of the nightlife in Brindisi, the reference point for citizens and tourists alike to enjoy a relaxing stroll, eat a good ice cream, when the season allows, or have an aperitif in good company. The Regina Margherita promenade is a symbol of the city, always teeming with life and recently renovated to allow the locals of Brindisi to enjoy their traditional Sunday stroll even more.

As well as running along the quay of the inner harbour, it connects the historic garden of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II with the new tree-lined square in front of the Prefect's house. If you looked down, you'd notice the paving, made of different materials, from stone ribbon to wooden slats, black volcanic stone and white limestone, which identifies the pedestrian area.

From the Regina Margherita promenade you can reach many points of interest, starting with the Virgil Staircase, named after Publio Virgilio Marone, at the top of which is the Roman Column marking the point where the Appian Way reached the sea. Continue for 5 minutes and you'll come to the beautiful Piazza Santa Teresa.
