Basilica del S. Sepolcro

Overview

The basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Barletta was built in Gothic-Burgundian forms between the 12th and 13th centuries, while the façade dates back to the Renaissance period. In the bare and sober interior, soaring cross vaults from the pillars were added not earlier than the 14th century. To the left of the entrance, there is a 13th century baptismal fountain, in the altar of the right apse, a 16th century Byzantine Madonna can be seen. The treasure includes works of European and Oriental production.
