PalaFlorio

Overview

The PalaFlorio, built between 1989 and 1991, is the largest sports hall in Apulia and among the most important in central and southern Italy. In 1993, it was named after the Bari sports director, Pietro Floriano Florio, president of FIPAV from 1977 to 1978. The Palazzetto has a seating capacity of 4,540 and is a multifunctional space, ideal for accommodating both the larger events and those of a smaller size and number of participants. Sport has always been central, the facility has hosted volleyball, basketball, handball, and gymnastics championships, but the hall has also opened its doors to the organisation of a considerable number of cultural events. Incidentally, at PalaFlorio in 2019, the men's national team gained access to the Olympic Games in Tokyo by winning the Qualification Tournament against Australia and Serbia.
