Avetrana

Overview

Avetrana is a small town nestled between a verdant landscape and flourishing countryside, with typical farmhouses providing a pleasant and relaxing setting. The old town, on the other hand, is a treasure chest that holds pearls of culture, history and traditions, from the narrow streets to the characteristic courtyard houses, from the underground traps to historical buildings such as the Palazzo Baronale, the Chiesa Matrice, Palazzo Torricelli and the Clock Tower. Finally, Avetrana is a land of traditions, with its ancient rituals such as the procession in honour of St. Anthony of Padua, with its carts laden with grain: the procession parades through the main streets of the town accompanied by figurants in period costume, and it all ends, on the last day of the festival, with the very special 'ballad of the horses'.
