Sauze d'Oulx

Overview

The Balcony of the Alps

Located in the Susa Valley, on the western slopes of Monte Genevris, Sauze d’Oulx is an agricultural and tourist centre at an altitude of 1,500 metres. Also known as the “Balcony of the Alps”, it is a popular tourist destination in both winter and summer.

It is one of the largest and most renowned ski resorts in the Vialattea, an international ski area that consists of eight resorts, 212 slopes and 69 ski lifts. Its spacious and scenic slopes, together with the impressive off-piste runs through the forest, make it suitable for skiers of all levels. Or you can also enjoy snowshoeing. In fine weather, the meadows are covered with mountain flowers and become a popular destination for open-air picnics and high-altitude hiking or cycling.

In the village, we recommend visiting the beautiful 16th-century parish church of St John the Baptist, with its pseudo-Romanesque bell tower. Nearby are the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Nature Park and the Adventure Village, with the adrenaline-pumping Tibetan Bridge, ideal for children and families.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the ultra-modern Pin Court sports centre. Meanwhile, the resort is also a destination for off-road enthusiasts. In fact, it is part of the Alpi Motor Resort, a network of ex-military dirt roads that wind through valleys, plateaus, hamlets and alpine pastures.
