Pallanza

Overview

Overlooking the Borromeo Gulf, west of the green Castagnola Point, Pallanza combines mediaeval atmospheres with the charm of a prestigious holiday resort, favoured by a climate that is nothing short of Mediterranean. The village experienced its heyday in the first half of the 20th century, when it was frequented by excellent tourists; one among them, Arturo Toscanini. In its vicinity are the famous Villa Taranto botanical gardens, visited by more than 150,000 people each year, spectacular especially when the tulips and azaleas are in bloom. Intra and Pallanza have formed the municipality of Verbania since 1939.
