Macugnaga

Overview

Macugnaga is a small village with many hamlets located at the foot of Monte Rosa and its famous east face. Here, winter means snow, and the area becomes a paradise for skiers, freeriders and ski mountaineers thanks to the kilometers of snow-covered slopes that allow descents and excursions that are always new. But the village and its landscape are also splendid in summer, when the panorama is tinged with the intense green of the forests and the clear sun is reflected in the numerous small alpine lakes that dot the area, some of which only form in this season with the melting of the snow, as is the case with Emerald Lake. Also worth seeing, on its territory, are the Mountain Museum and the part of the Chiesa Vecchia cemetery dedicated to the mountaineers who fell on Monte Rosa, intense and moving places.
