Limone Piemonte

Overview

A pearl at the heart of the Maritime Alps

Italy’s Maritime Alps provide the backdrop for Limone Piemonte, situated at an altitude of 1,000 metres in Piedmont, on the border with France. The village is half an hour’s drive from Cuneo, but is also easily accessible by car and train from Genoa and the Ligurian coast.

A true pearl of the Valle Vermenagna, Limone Piemonte is considered the ideal place for families and all visitors The village is also popular with tourists passing through who are fascinated by the beauty of the mountains all around them, both in summer and winter. The Riserva Bianca ski area stands out, with 17 ski lifts and 41 slopes offering 50 miles of pistes.

The historical centre of Limone Piemonte was built on the ancient Via del Sale salt road. From the main road, side roads branch off downstream towards the River Vermenagna, and to the mountainside. Stop by the Museo dello Sci ski museum and learn about local traditions. And, if you happen to be around for the last Sunday in August, when San Secondo is celebrated, don’t miss the enchanting Abaiya costume festival which commemorates the expulsion of the Saracens from the Valle Vermenagna.
