Overview
The Jewel of Lago Maggiore, facing the Lombardy shore, opposite Laveno. Intra retains its ancient centre, with small squares and a maze of alleyways winding from the lakefront to the basilica of San Vittore; Many tourists disembark at its picturesque harbour, a form of tourism increased by the possibility taking private vehicles on the ferry from the Varese shore of the lake. In the mountains behind Intra lies the Val Grande National Park, a true wilderness where nature still reigns supreme. Intra and Pallanza have formed the municipality of Verbania since 1939.
