Zavattarello

Overview

Amidst woods, vineyards and fertile cultivated fields, lying on the slope of a soft hill, we find the village of Zavattarello, a small town of medieval origin surrounded by nature that enchants for its beauty, with the gentle slopes of the Oltrepò and the small roads that cross them, offering splendid views. The village is dominated from above by the castle of the mercenary captain Jacopo Dal Verme, which gives the illusion of a leap in time and takes us back to the centuries of duels between knights. And if we descend from the castle towards the valley, we will find ourselves in the area of the village known as 'Su di Dentro' because in the past it was accessed through a stone arch that allowed us to enter the heart of the village: this is where the cobblers lived, hence the name of the village - 'savatén', 'cobbler'.
