Bicocca

Overview

Bicocca is not only the seat of one of the most important Italian universities, but it is also a youthful, lively and dynamic neighborhood with its clubs and cultural centers such as the Arcimboldi Theater, inaugurated in the late ‘90s, which has become an icon of Milanese culture. The tourist attraction, which gave the neighborhood its name, is the Bicocca degli Arcimboldi, the family's country home, once built on a rural area of Milan, now an example of 15th century country architecture. The redevelopment of this former industrial area is due to the contemporary art exhibition space Hangar Bicocca, which hosts temporary exhibitions and permanent installations by internationally renowned artists such as Anselm Kiefer. To immerse yourself in the green, you just need to go to the Collina dei Ciliegi or Cherry Tree Hill, resulting from the deposit of materials from the demolition of the industrial center, where you can take a walk or bike ride.
