Parish of Saints Peter and Paul

Overview

In the Lower Central East Brescia area, within the municipality of Gottolengo, is the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul. The direction in which the building is oriented is from east to west, with the main elevation facing west. The façade has a triangular gable, with acroteria at the points where the ridge and eaves lines meet, and is composed of two registers. The first houses, in the centre, the entrance portal surmounted by an architrave and a crowning, in the second there are two stone windows, positioned one below the other, next to the portal. The remaining openings, on the other hand, are located on the side elevations and provide natural lighting for the hall and presbytery. The slender bell tower, with a square plan, rises on the south side of the church, and consists of a cusp with an irregular octagonal base, a cornice and four round arched openings. Its interior, decorated with relief surfaces and wall paintings, consists of a single nave surrounded by side chapels and a rectangular presbytery, concluded by an apse. To mark the connection point of the roofing structures present, there is a slightly protruding cornice that divides the church into several parts.
