Cernobbio

Overview

Rarefied atmospheres for a visit to bygone times

Cernobbio has for decades been one of the most popular destinations for the international jet set The reason is easy to explain. This enchanting locality, located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, captivates visitors not only with the unique beauty of its landscapes, but also with its historical residences belonging to illustrious personalities of the past and present. Cernobbio, for example, is the location chosen for the Ambrosetti Forum, a prestigious annual event dedicated to the international economy.

To immediately immerse yourself in the atmosphere of times gone by, there are three stops to include in your itinerary: Villa Erba, Villa d'Este and Villa Bernasconi. The first, commissioned in its final form by Carlo Erba, founder of the Erba pharmaceutical company, was built in the late 19th and early 20th century. It is now home to the Museum of the Rooms of Luchino Visconti, the father of Italian neo-realism, as well as a renowned exhibition and conference centre.

Charm and history also meet at Villa d'Este, one of the most evocative and popular private residences on the whole of Lake Como. It overlooks the lake and is immersed in a park of about 10 hectares, a true botanical garden embellished with statues and architectural elements of great value.

Finally,

Villa Bernasconi is a classic example of a detached villa with an Art Nouveau turret. Today it is a house-museum that tells the story of its founder, textile entrepreneur Davide Bernasconi, through a multi-sensory and interactive cultural experience.
