Astino Valley Tour

Overview

A bike route through nature and unique views of Bergamo

Among the many tours that cycling tourists may choose to discover the wonders of Bergamo and its surroundings, there is a loop and easy-to-follow tour that starts from the heart of the city and ensures an out-of-town trip among green areas, hills and unique views of Bergamo. The Tour of the Val d'Astino starts from the Bergamo train station, from Piazzale Marconi to be exact, and continues outside the city to discover the Astino valley between bicycle paths and paved roads with little traffic.

The route is 17 kilometres long and includes interesting stops such as the former Astino Monastery, the botanical garden known as the Biodiversity Valley and the San Virgilio hill, the highest in the city.

The route is suitable for everyone, even families and those less experienced on a two-wheeler, but it is advisable to tackle it with a bike equipped with a gearbox in order to better manage the climbs and short cobbled sections. The final destination of the tour is also the starting point: Bergamo railway station.
