Finale Ligure

Overview

Beaches, forts and picturesque villages

Finale Ligure, on the Riviera di Ponente (Western Riviera) in Liguria, offers a beautiful seafront promenade and a historic centre comprising three villages, Finalborgo, Finalmarina and Finalpia.

Stroll through the narrow streets of Finalborgo nestled in its medieval walls. Admire the Baroque Church of San Biagio built on an older building of which the Gothic bell tower remains, and the 14th-century Palace of the Court. The Church and Convent of Saint Catherine date to 1359. Climb up to Fort San Giovanni where you can enjoy magnificent views.

Finalmarina is a typical Ligurian seaside village with vibrantly coloured houses. Don’t miss the Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista, considered among the most beautiful in Liguria, and Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II with its 17th-century buildings. Then stroll along the promenade overlooking the beach. A flight of steps brings you to the 14th-century Castelfranco Fortress.

Finalpia is separated from Finalmarina by the Sciusa river. Enjoy the beaches of San Donato and Castelletto and visit the Abbey of the Benedictine Fathers and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pia with its splendid medieval bell tower. The village of Varigotti and the beach of Noli are a stone’s throw away.
