Laghi del Gorzente

Overview

Hiking between Liguria and Ponente

Liguria has more to offer than just sea. The hinterland of this region, squeezed between the mountains and waters, boasts many pearls waiting to be discovered, including the Laghi del Gorzente Nature Trail. This circular hike straddling the Ligurian province of Genoa and the Piedmont province of Alessandria offers visitors the opportunity to discover two of the three lakes in the Capanne di Marcarolo Natural Regional Park.

You can leave your car in Prou Renè, at an altitude of 825 metres, and set off on the five-hour hike. The first stop is La Pietra del Grano, a huge boulder that once marked the trading point between Genoese and Po Valley merchants. You can continue to Lago Lungo, then follow the signs that lead to the Martyrs’ Memorial of the Passo Mezzano mountain pass and the summit of Monte Bric Nasciu, 916 metres above sea level. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views of Lago Bruno, the ideal spot for a well-deserved lunch break. The second part of the route, along the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, will take you to the CAI Nature Observatory in Bolzaneto and the Bronze Tablet of the Polcevera valley.

It is a breathtaking route, but remember that bathing is not permitted in these lakes.
