Overview
At the Old Port, the Biosphere (which is part of the Aquarium of Genoa) is the spectacular spherical glass and steel structure designed by Renzo Piano in 2001, which recreates the environment of tropical forests, ecosystems threatened by human exploitation, with the presence of more than 150 species of flowers (tree ferns, chewing gum trees, coffee plant, banana and cinnamon) and animals (butterflies, birds, amphibians and reptiles).
