Celle Ligure

Overview

Celle Ligure is a small village that extends between the hillside and the sea: its historic centre is a beautiful interlocking of alleys, to be crossed until your eyes meet one of the palazzi with their elegant façades. The small houses coloured green, pink and orange, the trompe-l'oeil shutters and the long beaches tell how much the town is, in its soul, a seaside village. The sea has always accompanied the lives of its inhabitants, for better or for worse, as can be seen from the two crenellated towers, known as the Bacci and Camilla towers, in the mediaeval nucleus perched on the hill, built to defend the village from the attacks of the Saracens who came from the sea. Today, the sea remains the heart of every activity: a destination for travellers, a treasure chest for fishermen, a place to meet, to have fun and to be enchanted... a place of beauty and history, strong and bewitching, to be experienced day after day.
