Apricale

Overview

In the Ligurian hinterland, nestled in the tranquillity of the Val Nervia, lies the village of Apricale: its name means' exposed to the sun 'and tells of the splendid light that is reflected here on the slate roofs and that warms the stone houses arranged on the slope of the hill.

The typical flavours tell the identity of this land and the most characteristic dishes are brandacujùn stockfish, brussu (curdled, salted and seasoned goat's milk) and desserts such as pansarole, sweet pancakes served with hot zabaglione, and cubaite, made with honey and hazelnuts.

But Apricale is not only nature and taste: Apricale has always been a village loved by artists, who have left their mark on this small but colourful village. Some fifty murals adorn the facades of the houses and, as an unexpected surprise, on the church bell tower you can see a bicycle facing upwards, a contemporary art installation that gives a touch of visual poetry to this enchanting place.
