Pope Francis funeral

Overview

Pope Francis funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 26. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on the churchyard of  Basilica di San Pietro.Afterwards, the coffin will be brought into St. Peter’s Basilica and then to the Santa Maria Maggiore, where the burial will take place.

The Basilica of Saint Mary Major is famous all over the world as pilgrimage destination and will be the final resting place of Pope Francis, who chose this location because of his deep devotion to the Virgin Mary.

From Wednesday April 23 to Friday April 25, the faithful will have the opportunity to pay their final respects to the Pontiff.
