Nettuno

Overview

The mediaeval village of Nettuno, with its cylindrical towers still peering over the horizon, is sheer above the sea. Separated from nearby Anzio by Villa Borghese, a luxuriant park overlooking the sea, it commemorates the arrival of the Americans in 1944 with the Museum of the Allied Landing, while the Antiquarium houses archaeological, historical and artistic finds from its territory. An area with a rich seabed, an ideal sea for water sports, a village with a cuisine that combines the flavours of the sea with those of the land, the seafaring atmosphere is at the heart of its identity and its symbol is the small square that can be reached by climbing a flight of steps that starts directly from the sea, as if to emphasise this close link.
