Overview
On the way to Lake Dimon, in upper Carnia upstream of Ligosullo, the hairpin bends of provincial road 24 lead to the Lius pass, and from here, on the right, take the road to the 1340 m altitude of Castel Valdaier and, a little further on, to the Valdaier cheese factory.
From here, one can continue on foot, via a partly paved mule track following the CAI 406 signpost, which then leads by path to the Casera Culet, along the north-western slope of Mount Culet and further on to the pastures of the Casera Dimon, which is still accessible although now abandoned.
The path on the left climbs among rhododendrons and Koch's gentians to the panoramic pass between Mount Paularo and Mount Dimon, altitude 1959, which overlooks the lake.
If you wish to return along a different route, you can descend from the Paularo summit plateau to meet and eventually follow the CAI 404 signpost.
