Sant'Agata Feltria

Overview

It once belonged to the Marches and was dominated by the Montefeltro family, whose historical and architectural traces remain in the town's symbolic fortress, which stands clinging to the sandstone and was enlarged during the 15th century at the behest of Federico di Montefeltro. But the town's architecture also has delicate and poetic aspects: in fact, the Percorso delle Fontane (Fountain Route), created by mosaicist Marco Bravura, winds through the historic centre, and one of them, the Fontana della Lumaca (Snail Fountain), is the brainchild of poet Tonino Guerra.
