Overview
Volano is a small village that is part of the municipality of Codigoro, in the province of Ferrara, in the region Emilia Romagna.
Founded in the 15th century, it is a simple agglomeration of a few houses that takes its name from that delta branch of the Great River that became a canal following the reclamation of the Po Delta territories.
Separated from the town by a vast pine forest, Lido di Volano is the northernmost location on the Comacchio coastline, the one that best preserves a deep contact with uncontaminated nature, therefore suitable for birdwatching and fishing.
The strong winds and sea currents that affect this part of the Ferrara coast attract kite surfers and windsurfers every year.
