Giardini Margherita

Overview

The city park of Bologna

Since it opened in 1879, the Giardini Margherita park has been the go-to place among locals in Bologna to enjoy a stroll. Today, this park is still a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike, given its close proximity to the historic centre. Covering 26 hectares, the park hosts venues and events all year round.

The “Serre” area certainly has the most surprises in store. Set up with the aim of reclaiming an abandoned space and giving it back to the community, it hosts co-working spaces, themed film and music evenings, and food outlets. It is also home to Capsula, the first Design Market in Bologna, which is held during the summer months and has now become a real date for the diary for the people of Bologna.

In addition to the Serre, the park also has another point of interest not to be missed: the Capanna Villanoviana. This is a life-size reconstruction of ancient Etruscan dwellings that is used for educational purposes.
