Punta Licosa

Overview

One of the most isolated and picturesque beaches in Cilento

For those looking for a peaceful holiday, we recommend a stop at Punta Licosa, one of the most isolated beaches on the Cilento coast. Located a few kilometres from Castellabate, it is only accessible by car to residents, via two roads with restricted traffic in the districts of Ogliastro Marina and San Marco di Castellabate. Tourists can reach the beach by bike or on foot along the San Marco path, or by boat, docking in the small harbour.

The promontory is home to a large forested area, where the Mediterranean scrub that surrounds the tiny village on the slopes of Monte Licosa flourishes, at an altitude of 326 metres. There is an ancient fortress here. Once past the pine forest, you have access to many small rocky beaches, whose waters are part of the Castellabate Marine Reserve. Here, you can choose from several coves with rocks and pebbles, where you can sunbathe or swim in complete relaxation. Be careful, however: some stretches are privately owned and therefore inaccessible. We recommend diving with rubber shoes to avoid hurting yourself on the rocks.

Two concerts on the water are dedicated to the mythical mermaid after which the town is named. These are held on boats moored in the stretch of sea separating Punta Licosa beach from the islet of Licosa, which we recommend you to visit with a short boat trip.
