Posillipo

Overview

A chic getaway in Naples

Posillipo is a hilly district of Naples and undoubtedly one of the most elegant and prestigious areas of Campania's capital city. There are many good reasons to visit, starting with Parco Virgiliano (the Park of Remembrance), with one of the most spectacular views of Naples. It's the perfect location for a romantic walk or a run at sunset, and from here you can enjoy a spectacular view that covers the entire Gulf of Naples, including the islands.

Other local attractions to visit include the tombs of Giacomo Leopardi, Virgil, Palazzo Donn'Anna, Villa Volpicelli and Via Posillipo. Complete your tour with a trip to the Cave of Seiano, the Imperial Villa of Pausilypon and the incredible Underwater Park of Gaiola, which you can explore by boat.

The local food is another great reason to spend a few more hours in Posillipo. You'll find a wide and varied selection, from award-winning restaurants with sea views to traditional cosy trattorias - there really is something for everyone here.

Finally, in Posillipo you can also swim, enjoy a variety of water sports or quite simply relax, just a few steps from the sea, with a choice of equipped bathing facilities or stretches of free beach.
