Baia

Overview

The small coastal town of Baia, a hamlet of Bacoli, is located in an undiscovered area just a stone's throw from Naples. Evidence of the ancient and glorious past can be seen at every step. The Temple of Venus, the Temple of Diana and the Archaeological Park of the Baths are just some of the sights you can visit. Alongside the beaches bathed by a crystal-clear sea, then, the Underwater Park of Baia offers the unique opportunity to discover the remains of the Roman city submerged by bradyseism and buried under a thin layer of sand.

A privileged vantage point from which to enjoy the wonderful panorama of the bay and the wider Campi Flegrei area, the Aragonese Castle dominates the inlet from the top of the promontory. Home to the Archaeological Museum of the Phlegraean Fields, it houses artefacts from this area that have always been appreciated for the secondary events of nearby Vesuvius.
