Nemoli

Overview

Nemoli is a small village within the Lucano Val D'Agri Lagonegrese Apennine National Park. The village lies along the old Strada Regia delle Calabrie and is characterised by porticoes, alleys and stone portals that still retain the charm of the past. Among the most important historical buildings worth mentioning are: the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, with a valuable statue of the Madonna in Byzantine style, and Palazzo Filizzola, an ancient noble residence, recently converted into a Civic Museum. Very picturesque are the ruins of the 16th century Baronial Castle, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire valley.

At Carnival, the village is populated for the Sagra della Polenta (Polenta Festival), where delicious polenta dishes are prepared, seasoned with sausage, bacon and ground red pepper, according to the old recipe.

From a naturalistic point of view, the main attraction is Lake Sirino, an ideal place for hiking or relaxing in the mountains. Every summer the "Lady of the Lake" event takes place here, a music, theatre and dance show that takes place on a floating stage, on the shores and waters of the lake, completely surrounded by nature!
