Miglionico

Overview

The town of Miglionico is famous for its castle, known as Malconsiglio. The manor house, which dates back to the 8th century, was the scene of the 'Congiura dei baroni' (Conspiracy of the Barons) when, back in 1485, in the hall of the castle that later took the name 'del Malconsiglio', the barons of the Kingdom of Naples hatched a conspiracy against King Ferdinand I of Aragon that ended with the assassination of the conspirators. This event is told to visitors thanks to the multimedia tour 'Discovering the Conspiracy of the Barons'. Also of interest is the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, which houses the majestic polyptych consisting of no fewer than 18 panels by Cima da Conegliano dating from 1499.
