Fontina museum and visitor centre

Overview

The Fontina Museum, with a dynamic and well-organised visitors' centre, is an exhibition venue entirely dedicated to the history and varieties of Fontina PDO cheese, which is the symbol of the Aosta Valley throughout the world. Located in the locality of Frissonière, where from Valpelline forks northwards into another side valley, that of Ollomont.

It would be difficult to find a better place in the Aosta Valley than this to celebrate the best-known local cheese. Hundreds of cows graze each summer among the alpine pastures of Valpelline and Ollomont Valley: from their tasty and nutritious milk, Fontina PDO is made locally, after careful processing in the maturing facilities for Frissonière, hollowed out of the rock.
