Aymavilles

Overview

In the middle valley, 640 metres above sea level, the village is dominated by its castle surrounded by vineyards. Already existing in the 13th century and characterised by four circular, crenellated towers, over the centuries it abandoned its defensive function to become a refined stately home. Also noteworthy are the Saint-Léger church, with its entirely frescoed façade, and the old Charrère mill. Aymavilles is also home to the Cave des Onze Communes, an important cooperative that brings together the production of the vineyards located in the 11 communes of the district.
