San Salvo

Overview

Between history, sea and relaxation

Along the Abruzzo coast of Trabocchi is the small town of San Salvo. With its beautiful beaches it is among the chosen destinations for summer holidays, but it is also its historical heritage that represents a strong attraction for visitors.

San Salvo has a very ancient origin: the finds found in the area attest that the town was inhabited since prehistoric times. From the Roman period the mosaic and marble floors and the remains of an aqueduct are still visible, while from the medieval phase little remains, due to the bombings that devastated the original center, during the Second World War, and the transformations that occurred with the economic boom of the twentieth century.

For a dip in history visit the “high” part of San Salvo, or the hilly area, 128 meters high. If, on the other hand, you want to know the most recent town center, move to the "lower" part, that is, along the coast, where the Salvo Marina area extends, a coveted seaside destination. The 3 km coastline, with its white sand beaches, Blue Flag waters and slowly degrading seabed will conquer you.
