Bugnara

Overview

At an altitude of almost 600 metres, at the foot of Colle Rotondo, stands Bugnara, small village in the province of Aquila, surrounded by hills and forests, dominating the entire Peligna Valley from its position.

Bugnara is an ancient village, which developed mainly in the Middle Ages and has seen a succession of noble families who have left architectural traces of great value in the town: a symbol of this past is the Ducal Castle, whose ruins still seem to control the entire territory.

Finally, worth seeing while strolling through the pretty old town centre are the ruins of megalithic walls and fortifications, the Church of S. Maria della Neve, the Church of S. Maria degli Angeli, the Palazzo dei Papi, the Palace of Baron Alesi dei Paparelli and the Church of the Madonna del SS. Rosario.
