In the magnificent scenery of the Pontedilegno-Tonale area, between Alta Val Camonica and Alta Val di Sole, the Adamello Ultra Trail crosses the Adamello Nature Park and the Stelvio National Park, uniting two regions (Lombardy and Trentino), two provinces (Brescia and Trento) and eight municipalities (Vezza d'Oglio, Vione, Temù, Ponte di Legno, Edolo, Monno and Incudine in Lombardy, and Vermiglio in Trentino).
To be held from 20 to 22 September 2024, Adamello Ultra Trail is a mountain running and ultrarunning competition over three different distances: 35 km, 100 km and 170 km, with a total altitude difference of 2,200, 6,050 and 11,500 metres respectively. Organised since 2014 by the ASD Adamello Ultra Trail led by Paolo Gregorini, over the last decade Adamello Ultra Trail has become an international event chosen by hundreds of enthusiasts and some of the world's best athletes. In fact, the previous edition, in 2023, saw the participation of athletes from more than 16 different countries, and in recent years the percentage of female participants is becoming increasingly significant. In addition to the level of the event, which could not exist without the essential contribution of more than 250 volunteers, the Adamello Ultra Trail has become known around the world for the beauty, relevance and historical uniqueness of its route, which reaches the 2,681 m above sea level of the Passo dei Contrabbandieri.
A route of great historical and cultural significance, retracing the routes used during the First World War, including trenches, fortifications, mule tracks, paths and walkways, all surrounded by unparalleled natural landscapes. As in 2023, this year's Adamello Ultra Trail calendar is enriched by the side events that form the Adamello Series and will take place on 15 September. In fact, both the Adamello Vertical Kilometer (with 1,000 metres of altitude difference, over a distance of 3.9 km, which can be tackled in competitive, slow and junior versions) and the Adamello Trail Junior, which for years has been bringing youngsters closer to the mountain running discipline, have been reconfirmed.
