Rivisondoli

Overview

Fortified village in the heart of Abruzzo

A charming village, perfect for a summer or winter holiday. We are in Rivisondoli, Abruzzo, between the Abruzzo and Maiella National Parks

Stroll through its historic centre of medieval origin, following the narrow streets and steep stairways surrounded by the ancient fortification system, still clearly visible. The city gates, such as the 15th-century Porta Antonietta and the Porta di Mezzo, can still be admired. The numerous earthquakes that have struck the area have severely damaged its architectural beauty, but it is still possible to visit the Church of St Nicholas of Bari. Rivisondoli attracts visitors from all over Italy thanks to its living nativity scene, which comes alive on 5 January every year since 1951.

If you are looking for a few moments of relaxation, treat yourself to a break at the Terme Alte, with its sauna, emotional shower and Turkish bath. The more sporty will appreciate the many outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in the surrounding area, such as hiking on Mount Calvario. During the winter season, the Rivisondoli-Monte Pratello ski lifts offer 35 kilometres of ski slopes.
