High peaks, waterfalls and roaring alpine rivers, artistic beauty and breath-taking views: you can experience all this and more in the Seriana Valley, where fascinating natural sites alternate with artistic and architectural gems.
The area has considerable differences in climate and landscape, depending on the altitude. You can go from the 400-metre-high plateaus up to the 3,052-metre-high Pizzo Coca, which is known, not surprisingly, as the “roof” of the Bergamasque Alps.
If you like walking outdoors or cycling, the Bergamasque Alps Regional Park and Val Sanguigno are ideal destinations for family and group excursions, with trails, cycle paths and mountain huts. Visitors who prefer ski slopes should head to the trails at Monte Pora-Presolana, Spiazzi di Gromo and Lizzola, not forgetting the cross-country skiing rings of Valbondione.
There is also plenty to enjoy for art and culture enthusiasts. You can stroll through the historic centres of villages such as Clusone and take in the tranquillity of the numerous pilgrimage sites, from the sanctuary of San Patrizio to the shrine of the Madonna delle Grazie. Step back in time in the Seriana Valley by visiting the mills of Cerete, the archaeological park of Parre, the steel mills of Ponte Nossa and the mines of Gorno.
