Types of data processed and purposes of processing

Browsing data

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate the website acquire, during their normal operation, certain personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This category of data includes the IP addresses or domain names of the computers and terminals used by users, the URI/URL (Uniform Resource Identifier/Locator) notation addresses of the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the user's operating system and computer environment.

These data, necessary for the use of web services, are also processed to:

·        obtain statistical information on the use of the services (most visited pages, number of visitors per time slot or per day, geographical areas of origin, etc.);

·        checking the correct functioning of the services offered.

Cookies and other tracking systems

Cookies are small text strings sent by the website server to the user's terminal, where they are stored to be retransmitted to the same sites the next time the same user visits. This site uses:

·        Technical cookies: Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such a service. They are not used for any further purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator. This category includes:

o   browsing or session cookies that ensure normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, authentication to access restricted areas);

o   analytical cookies, assimilated to technical cookies only if:

o   used only for aggregate statistics and in relation to a single site or mobile application;

o   anonymised by masking the IP address;

o   are not combined by any third parties with further processing for purposes other than statistical analysis alone;

o   functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g., language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the user.

The installation of such cookies does not require the prior consent of users, while the obligation to provide adequate information regarding the processing of personal data concerning them remains in place.

Among the technical cookies, there is the “fbsr_274308341469370” cookie that allows social login via the facebook.com portal ( http://connect.facebook.net/) his cookie does not perform profiling. The information of the third party is available at the following link: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation, to which please refer for updates. In addition, there is Google's technical cookie "_gclxxx" used for anonymous tracking of users who perform actions (pages visited, clicks made) on the italia.it site and who come from an external advertisement referring to the site. Further information on the use of cookies by Google is available at the following link: https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies?hl=it, to which we refer for any updates.

·        Profiling cookies: profiling cookies are used to link specific actions or behavioural patterns recurring in the use of the offered functionalities (patterns) to specific identified or identifiable subjects, to group the different profiles within homogeneous clusters of different sizes. Profiling also makes it possible, among other things, to modulate increasingly customised promotional actions, beyond what is strictly necessary for surfing the site, as well as to send targeted promotional messages, i.e., in line with the preferences expressed by the user when surfing the web and, finally, to customise the contents used by the user on the site based on his preferences.

Among the profiling cookies, there are the following Google cookies "IDE" and "test_cookie" used to store users' preferences with respect to the display of advertisements on sites outside Google. More information on Google's use of cookies is available at the following link: https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies?hl=it,, to which we refer for any updates. There is also a Facebook cookie called _fbp used to provide a number of advertising products, such as real-time offers from third-party advertisers. Further information can be found at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/help/1896641480634370.

The user can decide which categories of cookies to lend, refuse or revoke consent to at any time by accessing the "Customise Cookies" section. Once in this section, the user can change the selected settings. Clicking on "Close" denies the user consent to all cookies previously accepted, while clicking on "Confirm my choices" confirms the selected choices.

Blocking certain types of cookies may have an impact on the user's website browsing experience and the services that the website is able to offer. By denying consent, in fact, the user will continue browsing without being able to benefit from content personalised based on his/her preferences.
